10 Minute Poem

I have not written any poetry or anything like that in a while. I sat down and made myself write for a few minutes. I appreciate any feedback.

10 minute poem

by Samantha Siebold

If you stop and think too long
About life’s short song
How it goes and goes
Abrupt and adjunct
A reactionary feeling
Will build in your toes
And climb up to your nose

A ripple of worry
Making its path with fury
Funneling through your mind
And you see the snapshot
The clapback trap
You’re caught in time

We’re here with so many feelings
So many opinions and visions
But it hits you
You’re so small
Shrinking
Void

The things you see right now
The ones you hold so dear
Will exist as a memory
Until it’s all swallowed up
By an unforgiving history
Captured

All of our thrills and wills
Our dreams and buildings
The fundamental things
The philosophical shells
Our minds and all
Encompassing

Time will eat us alive
If we let it
We forget
Ever leaving a legacy
Ever bringing change
Ever seeing fate
Ever knowing
What happens beyond you
Is impossible

Because we are limited
We are finite
Dependent
On something we try to measure
But can’t fathom
On something we try to grasp
Our phantom

Time is
Time is the scale of things we can’t predict
Time is the jail for the mortal convict
Time is the guessing game we can’t win
Time is the alterations in space as it spins
Time is the beat of the drum
And we are all afflicted with the rhythm

I wrote an additional poem to follow after this one. I hope someone reads it!

The Monday After

But stop
Listen quick
To the tick
Of time
Drop

The earth continued rolling
Amidst the galaxy
The day the cross was lifted
For everyone to see

A man
Dark
Red
Blood
Blistered
Beaten
Bruised
Brazen enough to save all souls
Told by his Father to die for us all
Sent to restart the rhythm with
The end of his own heart
Beating
Beating
It is finished.
Gone

So the God of Creation
Came down to our nations
Making proclamations
Daring standing narration
Against leaders in their stations
Staring the law in its face
And erasing
All of our sins and damnation
Bringing about the prophecies of salvation

His infancy
His life
His legacy
Our strife

He bridged the discord
He turned the record
And made it new
And saved not few
But all
Who believe
Who say
Yes
I receive
I pray
For the truth

He broke the rhythm
To bring a new song to life
A song that says
Faith not fate

So time
Time will eat us alive
If we let it
We forget
Ever leaving a legacy
Ever bringing change
Ever seeing fate
Ever knowing
What happens beyond you
Is impossible

But time is limited
We are forgiven
The game didn’t win
We are not convicts
We are free
We can predict
That we
We are all saved eternally

Because the almighty is resurrected.
